Notes & News

In 1975, I began making quilts to serve a specific function – keeping people warm. As time went on, I began using quilts as a medium for contemporary self-expression and focused primarily on creating original designs. I discovered the diversity and spontaneity inherent in a smaller format.

In nature, I find the blueprint for endless variations and intricate patterns, as well as a rich palette that inspires dynamic color schemes. The vast expanse of the sky, the detail in a leaf, the architecture of a flower, each is a source that ignites my imagination and creativity.

I am tirelessly intrigued by the interplay of shapes, lines, colors, textures, and stitches. I am passionate about fabric, in cutting it apart and reassembling it into a composition of intersecting possibilities. Finally transcending the pieced work with intricate hand stitching, the quilt comes to life.
